Spring trail work report.

Yes folks, trail work goes go on each spring and summer.  We hope to get some trails leveled this summer, and control the water better down in the gorge.
Here is the DEQ representative Helena checking for wetlands.

We all got a mini-ecology lesson.

Another update was the drag lift pole at Tomasi TH.

Bob J giving some much needed help.

The old one was not tall enough for a whole winter's worth
of snow or hold the implement far enough outboard.

It weighed quite a bit so we decided to lift it via UTV winch.

Ready to go!  The A frame will keep it centered.

Half way up.
Up, up it goes.

It's not done until some roof tin, fascia and a winch is added.
This is the pole that was installed at Hancock Elementary.

This one is for the equipment used in the Learn To Ski
program held right in the school yard each winter.

Trail work updates!

This summer, we hope to have some earth work done on a portion of the trails to help control the water and level them, for earlier grooming of snow.  This will also allow better walking and biking over the summer months.  Today, we walked a few contractors through the work area.
Three area contractors meet us on Tuesday morning to walk through the work site.
Gromit greeted one of them.

This is one of the water problems that needs to be addressed.
Another low spot with water.
Fun was had by all and trail work updates will be posted here as needed..

Spring trails inspection

We've done a trail walk this week to inspect bridges, check water crossing the trail, close gates and see in general how everything is doing.
Spring, summer, and fall is work time, so we can all play in the winter. Every trail improvement gets done during the off season. All improvements make for better trails year-round.  Could you help reopen us reopen an old trail this spring?
Upstream from Tomasi RD, here you can see where water ran down the hill.
It then went across the trail.

Further up the trail yet another creek crosses the trail. A culvert is needed here.

Here too.

And here.  This is why we need a compact tractor with a backhoe.

Here as well. Could you donate to the capital campaign, to make this possible?

In the Dam meadow, the water runs around the bridge and the creek is moving
into this location.

This barrier fence needs to be gathered up and packed away.

We shoveled the gate out of the base, so it could be lifted up and locked.

Not seen was the gate on Sisu hill that was also locked. The gates keep motorized
vehicles off the fragile trails.
