Yes that's right. After years of planning, fund raising and plain hard work, the first bridge beam was finally moved into Swedetown creek gorge at 9 this morning.
A City of Hancock fellow lifted one and onto a trailer for us. Thanks guys! |
Another BIG thanks to Bill M. Glenn A. and the city council for their help on this project. |
First we fly down the trail we just cleared on Saturday. |
I'm kidding about the speed. Into the 1st corner we go. |
Towards the sand pit we zoom. |
Down Sisu hill we skid. The Rhino was tied on as an anchor. I thought Mark might go too fast, so applied the brakes :-). |
At the bottom we switched to the shorter and more maneuverable, compact tractor. |
Yes is was a tad tight here! |
Just about there! BIG thanks to Kathy and Bella for coming out to help. |
Next job is to cut heavy timbers into supports. |
Done! That's one manly, stout looking beam. At this point we are not sure when the next one with be moved down. |
